Questions & Answers

Marine Fuel Supply FAQs

Clear answers to the questions ship operators ask us most often.

Q1 Which marine fuel grades can OceanicNova supply?
We arrange MGO (DMA/DMZ), MDO (DMB), VLSFO (0.50% sulphur) and HSFO (RMG 380 / RMK 700) for scrubber-fitted vessels. Availability varies by port, so we confirm the exact grade and specification with every offer.
Q2 Is the fuel compliant with IMO 2020 and ECA sulphur limits?
Yes. We supply fuel that meets MARPOL Annex VI limits: 0.50% sulphur globally and 0.10% inside Emission Control Areas, unless the vessel uses an approved scrubber. The sulphur content is stated on the Bunker Delivery Note.
Q3 What information do you need for a bunker enquiry?
Vessel name and IMO number, port, ETA and ETD, grade and quantity, preferred delivery method and your specification (usually the ISO 8217 edition). Send it through our quotation form or contact our team.
Q4 What documents will we receive after delivery?
A signed Bunker Delivery Note (BDN) as required by MARPOL Annex VI, the supplier's quality certificate and the sealed MARPOL sample, together with any commercial samples agreed in advance.
Q5 Can you arrange fuel testing and a bunker survey for the stem?
Yes. We can arrange independent laboratory testing to ISO 8217 and a qualified bunker surveyor to witness quantity and sampling through our Bunker Fuel Testing & Quantity Surveys service.
